Pottery Studio

Nestled in the beautiful Surrey Hills, Wildcroft Pottery was opened in February 2022 by Lucy Hogan operating from in her garden studios in Witley, Surrey. In April 2026 a second garden studio offering throwing lessons and 'studio time' for the more advanced potters to work by themselves was added.

Lucy has been a keen potter for over 45 years, predominantly creating hand built pieces using techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab building whilst enjoying the more faster paced throwing on a potter's wheel. With such a passion for pottery Lucy created Wildcroft Pottery with view to enabling others to find their hidden creative talents whilst benefiting from the relaxing benefits of making pottery.

Studio I provides ample space for Lucy to teach six students the techniques of hand-building (pinching, coiling a slab building as well as sculpture) and is fully kitted out with equipment and glazes. Whilst Studio II houses two potter's wheels for throwing lessons & 'studio time', as well as an equipped hand-building area for  'studio time' for the more advanced potters having weekly lessons to spend additional time creating their masterpieces.

Two large kilns are housed in the garage, so that all pieces produced in either studio can be fired on site.

Lucy teaches the skills of hand building pottery to adults on a weekly basis in school term time in the Studio I. Classes are aimed at beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills, although those with more experience are more than welcome to join as there are now many who have had lessons with Lucy for some time. She also runs taster sessions for those wanting to give hand-building a go on Saturdays, family & friends group bookings at selected times & flexi adult sessions and children's workshops during the summer holidays.

Throwing lessons are taught by Lucy in Studio II on Friday mornings during the Summer term 2026 and as a weekly course on Wednesday afternoons in the Winter term 2026. Throwing lessons can be taught at other times upon request.  Click here to find out more about Throwing or book a class
